Anyone who has spent time with ‘The 555 Team’ is at least familiar with this term ‘Hover’. It is the opposite of the sole of your club’s resting on the ground, from Putter to Fairway Metals.

When our golf ball is resting on the grass / ground, we have a tendency to do the same with our ‘Clubhead Sole’. Not a productive idea and procedure! Impact can become a fishing expedition or ‘Crap Shoot’!

If the ‘Sole’ is resting on the grass, one must ‘Lift’ it up before the ‘Sweeping Take-Away’ move can be accomplished. We refer to this ‘Lift’ as a ‘Pick Up Inside Take-Away’ (PUITA). If you start the Back & Up Swing with a ‘Lifting Action’, you shall have the tendency to finish the ‘Impact & Separation’ with a ‘Flip-Handed Action. With and Inside-Out Clubhead Path, this invites the Fade Hook Spin Rate and Ball Flight Action’. The nasty ‘Snap-Hook’ often comes into play! You know the three ‘Hook’ ingredients!

“Mindset” has meanings! 1) A Set of Mental Conditions or Attitudes, 2) State Of Mind, 3) Frame of Mind, 4) Mental Processes, 5) Psyche, 6) Mentality and more! You will have your own ideas.

Is ‘Mindset Active or Passive’?

When does ‘Mindset’ become ‘Action Productive’?

Is the notion of ‘Mindset’ more ‘Premeditated or Spontaneous’ … ‘Conscious or Subconscious’?

Where does a horse strike you with a ‘Hind-Legged Death Blow’ … at full extension! Don’t sneak up on any horse unannounced!

Now to GOLF!

At ‘Impact Fix’ the average golfer is fairly extended. Most people employ a ‘Wrist Break’ or angle between the Shaft Line (Hand, Wrist Primary Articulating Joint - PAJ) and Forearm Line.

When we ‘Sweep the sole of the Clubhead Away from the ball, across the grass, we get ‘More Extended and Wide’. (see Back & Up Swing’) (see ‘The LAW System … Leverage, Arc & Width’)

As we arrive at the Top Of Back Swing (Swing Sequence #5), our Hands & Wrists get fairly close or closer to the Brace Ear! Then we ‘Gravitationally Drop’ the Hands and Wrists vertically towards the Brace Hip Power Point. The Shaft become ‘Parallel To The Ground’ and the Hands & Wrists get more proximal to that ‘Brace Hip’.

Through the ‘Impact & Separation Zone’ we get more extended into the ‘Chase and Follow Phase’. In this ‘Swing Sequence #9’, both ‘Lever Assemblies get ‘Fully Extended’ or to what we refer to as ‘Full Down & Out Swing Width’. This is where the horse delivers its ‘Mule Kick’.

One might feel slightly ‘Unstable’ with a ‘Two Point Stance’. (Both Feet On The Ground but with the Sole of Clubhead Hovering) Remember, the instant your swing gets underway, in motion, (‘Sweeping’) you must have elevated the sole of your Clubhead at least slightly.

Always employ or apply your ‘5 Set-Ups’ … Posture, Grip, Stance, Ball Location & Alignment. Every swing in the entire world has all of these components! Worth our attention?

However, when one ‘Sweeps Into Rotational Motion’ (see Turn & Lift - One Move Back & Up - Quiet Triangles) the gyroscopic nature of the Golf Swing creates ‘Dynamic or Centripetal (Centrifugal) Balance’. Your Captain Eyes, adequate Knee-Flex, Spinal Inclination & Tilt as well as proper Breathing (DDDB) are primary elements.

Path Options are 1) Inside-Out, 2) Square Square and 3) Outside-In. (‘Casting’)
Plane Options are 1) Above, 2) On and 3) Below.

Once you have established your ‘5 Set-Ups’ (PASSIVE - Posture, Grip, Stance, Ball Location & Alignment) you are ready to put your ‘5 Essential Elements’ (ACTIVE - Clubface Aim, Clubhead Path, Clubhead Speed, Sweet Spot & Angle Of Attack) into effective motion.

A really key point in making your ‘Putting Stroke’ (once properly Set-Up) is to move your ‘Shoulder Axis’ ‘On Path & On Plane’.

Just out of interest, this teacher feels like he ‘Moves his Brace Shoulder Back & Up’ (Back Swing) while initially ‘Dropping’ that shoulder ‘Down and Then Out’. There is a feeling of the Target Shoulder’s moving ‘Forward & Up’ reciprocal or in conjunction with the ‘Brace Shoulder’s very simple tasking.

‘Putting Thin or with Over or Top Spin’ is an ideal ‘Short Game’ goal to set and accomplish.

You are benefitted by getting ‘Over Spin on your ‘Putts’. This ball action helps the ball roll out more smoothly and without the common ‘Side-Spin, Skids and Hops’. (see ‘End Over End’)

Do NOT attempt to ‘Help The Ball Into The Sky - ‘No Lifting Moment or Action’ allowed!

Rather than making that lifting error, focus on ‘Pinching The Ball Off The Ground’ with ‘Fully-Extended’ ‘Lever Assemblies’ that are ‘Set-Up’ to get you down to the ‘Bottom Of Swing Arc’ (BOSA) where the ball is passively waiting to gladly get its ‘Butt Kicked’!

(‘Posture, Grip, Stance, Ball Location & Alignment’) The ‘Knock Down’ is a very useful shot especially due to its shortened or compact nature. Bigger swings (more Clubhead Travel Distance - more Circumference - bigger Swing Circle) are exposed to greater risk and often provide less reward! Over decades, this ‘Great Game’ constantly stimulates our minds about science and physics and very often aspects of religion. Sometimes faith seems to be golf’s only plausible strategy!

Think of your ‘Set-Up configuration … ‘The Alignment Railway Tracks’ specifically. Pull any club and make some ‘Tick Tock’ warm-up swings. Once actually warmed-up, Sweep, Turn and Lift to your ‘Top Of Back Swing’ (Swing Sequence #5), Finish & Hold’.

Focus on your ‘Body Alignment Rail’, more specifically think of your ‘Shoulder Axis’. It is ‘The Keystone Axis’ especially due to its proximity linearly via the ‘Lever Assemblies’ to your Hands and thus to your ‘Clubhead’. A point? The ‘Shoulder Axis is closer than is your ‘Hip Axis’. Think that is due to the fact that your ‘Hands’ are very close to you ‘Hips’ at both ‘Set-Up (Swing Sequence #1) and through ‘The Impact & Separation Zone’. (Swing Sequence #8 & #9)
